Astrid Wells Cooper
Astrid Wells Cooper wears many hats in the film industry. She is a talented casting director (Rosehaven Series 1 & 2, ABC TV; The Kettering Incident, Foxtel; Death or Liberty, ABC/ BBC; plus innumerable national, international and local TVC’s) and professional actor with credits in TV, film, short film and animation as well as numerous TVC’s.
Slick Timing (2015), a short film created by Astrid has seen her awarded international accolades for directing and has been broadcast multiple times on ABC. Another short film, Douglas was an overnight internet success.
Astrid has worked as a teacher and lecturer in directing, acting and audition technique. In 2016, she was a guest presenter at BOFA film festival where she co-chaired a master-class in Short Film making.
In her home state, Astrid was a teacher at the Cooper Screen Academy where she enjoyed working with a range of classes and age groups developing their acting and audition skills.
Her skills as a stand up and corporate comedian have been well utilised in her hometown of Hobart where she enjoyed a strong career as a presented, public speaker and MC.
Astrid juggles a busy career between producing, voice over work, acting and casting but always ensures there is time for teaching. She delights in helping young actors reach their potential in screen acting skills and audition technique.
